A County Park for Everyone
Established in 1992, Meeks Park is Union County’s crown jewel. This one-of-a-kind recreation area has something for everyone, including picnic tables, pavilions, playgrounds, ball fields, a pool, splash pad, tennis courts, basketball court, skateboard park, walking trails, dog park, 18-hole disc golf course, fishing, a restored gristmill, a kinetic sculpture exhibit, and a canoe/kayak launch pad. Butternut Creek and Nottely River run through the park, making for scenic walking trails and picnic spots. In fact, the park has 4.62 miles of walking trails, including some that are dog friendly.
Several festivals are held at the park throughout the year:
- Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games
- Butternut Creek Arts & Crafts Festival
- Blairsville Sorghum Festival
DIRECTIONS
From Blairsville, take Hwy. 515 west about 1 mile. The park spans both sides of the highway.
